6 Things That Inspire Me

What Inspires You?

Recently I went to see the Cirque du Soleil show, MYSTERE. It was actually my second opportunity to experience this show – one of my all-time fav’s for sure!

As I watched the amazing feats achieved by the super talented performers, I couldn’t help but feel this new surge of inspiration rush over me (something that was nowhere to be seen prior to the show).

I was overcome by this desire to do more of what I love, to learn a new skill and to enjoy life to the max.

When Inpiration Strikes

These same feelings have surged through me at various times in my life previous to this. The one thing they all have in common is that they involve watching someone do something that they’re both highly skilled in and extremely passionate about.

I can’t help but feel in awe, excited, inspired and motivated to do more in my life when in the presence of such people. It’s like I receive a personal challenge to end the complacency in life, set myself new challenges, learn new skills and most of all HAVE FUN!

This got me thinking – what are the things that inspire me and how can this help you to feel inspired too?

And so I put together a list of the top 6 things that inspire me…

6 Things That Inspire

1. Do Something DIFFERENT

Breaking away from your daily routine to do something new and different can have dramatic effects on the way you think about things.

This doesn’t have to be a massive change – it could be as small as taking a different route home from work. Consistency is key – regular breaks from your usual routine will expose you to different things, each with the potential to inspire.

2. Spend time in nature

This is my abosulte favorite!

You just can’t beat nature for inspiration. Stillness with something so vast, beautiful and intelligent is such an awesome way to feel inspired.

This could be a walk in a park, sitting on the beach, hanging out in a forest, or whatever it is you like best. Just get out there and enjoy!

3. Meet with an interesting/inspiring friend

I’m sure you’ll have had this experience before… where you spend time with someone you really admire, who you find totally interesting and inspiring. Then, when you leave their presence you feel like you’re on cloud 9 – so much more excited and inspired than before you met with them!

Work out the people in your life who leave you feeling this way and spend more time with them!

4. Go to a show

Be inventive with this one! I’ve used the term ‘show’ loosely to mean… watch someone highly skilled at what they do!

This could be ANYTHING from cirque du soleil, to a magician, an awesome movie, a live band, any kind of art/artist, a sports event or anything else that you can think of. I’m certain you’ll leave it feeling inspired.

5. Do more of what you love

I’ve seen this phrase thrown around the internet so frequently (and almost carelessly) recently that I almost didn’t use it incase it’s meaning has been lost. But it’s so powerful that I just had to add it in.

Write a list of 3 things you LOVE to do and start scheduling them into your days more frequently.

6. Learn something new

If you can get creative at the same time… BONUS!

Learning new skills can change your perspective. This is AWESOME as it means that areas where you previously felt ‘stuck’ can suddenly become wide open and filled with ideas or opportunities. Educating yourself and continuous learning is a great way to stay inspired!

What people are saying

I have known Davina for nearly 5 years now. She has been an inspiration to me and a loyal friend. She has always truly listened and provided guidance without telling me what to do, which I appreciate. The one thing that I admire the most about my friend with a huge heart and soul is her ability to be true to herself and beliefs no matter what.
